Eleventh-grade Grantsville High Student, Zane Rhyne, was presented with the National Literary Competition award from Gallaudet University. This is the second year Zane has entered the contest and won. The competition called for a short story of 1,500 words or less submitted by a student who is deaf or hard of hearing. Gallaudet University is known for being the world's only university designed to be barrier-free for deaf and hard of hearing students. Part of the award includes the choice between a trip to Washington D.C. or a scholarship towards his college tuition. Zane will also be able to attend a week-long American Sign Language or science camp at Galludet University this summer.
